You don't buy a Rolex because of how affordable it is. It's a fine watch. Personally I think 41mm is too big for a watch like this though. I'd far prefer to get a vintage DateJust 1601 or so, at 36mm .My current collection consists only of this watch. It's a fine watch. Personally I think 41mm is too big for a watch like this though. I'd far prefer to get a vintage DateJust 1601 or so, at 36mm which I think is a far better size for a dress watch. Oyster with smooth bezel because it dresses down better than the jubilee. I had the same issue, trying to decide between a 41 and 36. In the end I picked the 36, classical proportions, the slim lugs and the new jubliee all went together perfectly. 7.5" wrist and I . Do I go with the OP41 In Bright Blue (Dark blue) or the Datejust 41mm smooth bezel oyster bracelet and blue dial. From all my accounts they are nearly the same minus the polished links and date on the DJ.
My personal pick is the Explorer as I lean more to casual. I'm thinking the fluted 41 is too big and blingy esp for my 6.45" wrist. The black OP39 would be a good in-betweener but they dont make it anymore. But if only one datejust 41 or 36 all night long. I like the OP 39 better than explorer 1 as well. I wish the 39 would come out with a blue without the green dial markers! The 41 Datejust, fluted bezel in slate grey is my favorite Rolex. It's got class, but it's toned down/not flashy.
