I had the cracking happen in the corners or the bag as well as wearing away completely in the edges after about 6 months. I've been wanting this bag for some time now so this is helpful to see in terms of wear and tear. Your bag looks like it's in overall excellent condition except for the top zipper area. I'm curious if YSL offers warranty or repairs. . . ?

The hardware is silver and is coated with black paint. I was shocked when i recognized it. To spot a fake YSL Lou Camera Bag, check for uneven stitching and compare the logo's font and placement. Examine the serial number and hardware quality. I think tarnish builds more character to your bag because it actually means you use it, but that's just my personal thoughts. You can always remove tarnish with Silvo polish. In the long run though if the gold is completely worn out you can always get the hardware replaced by YSL in the future, but i'm thinking decades.

Less logos, less hardware (I was bit by the Bottega bug - send help). I settled on the YSL Lou camera bag. I purchased through Nordstrom not YSL. It arrived wrapped and stuffed, so I don’t think it has been used, but I noticed that the hardware is black where it is attached. Is this normal? It looks worn. [UPDATE] I returned to Nordstrom and ordered a new one directly from Saint Laurent. The tarnish is much . But I noticed something strange, the hardware on the inside of the bag was..tarnished! Little spots all over and even some green grossness! The clips for the shoulder strap were tough to open from the green stuff.
